Show Notes

Music education teaches students how to work together, trust in each other, and support one another to find harmony. These characteristics that music education can help nurture can bleed into any other part in life. Learning music is not for everyone, and many students who take music classes in school won’t necessarily be musicians for the rest of their lives. What will last for their lives are the developmental skills that learning an instruments, and being in an ensemble can offer.

Welcome to another episode of Walsh Wednesday: The Reflective Series. A couple weeks ago, I had a conversation with good friend, Alex Hitrick. Alex is a music educator paving his way through the pandemic to offer a sense of normalcy to his students as they too navigate their own stresses of the pandemic. In this interview, we talk about how music classes continue to be a vital outlet during a time where socialization is minimal, and how to inspire students to find the best in themselves. All of that and more, right after this.
